1. 25th November 2017

Migrated to a new host in a roughly one-hour downtime window; went mostly smoothly except that I forgot to check the map, which spent a while being broken until I caught the error in my server logs. Oops. Everything should sail smoothly henceforth - but should you notice any lingering issues, know you're always welcome to contact me!

2. 26th April 2017

I removed moderation powers from quite a few accounts, as I suspect most of my moderators are inactive in the game: Aahzmandius, Andriel, Devil Miyu, Jair, Nyatta, Occamrazor, persephone, Renfield1, Silhouette and Tarwedge.

If you were affected by this despite being active, I am deeply sorry! Please let me know - the change isn't personal at all, I just wanted to make sure people have an at least slightly better idea who might occasionally be looking at the site.

Related remark, for transparency's sake: The main reason I've left in Tweeky is because I am in active touch with him (though I don't think he pays much attention to this site, this allows me to moderate through him should it be necessary).

3. 13th March 2017

I apologise for not doing this sooner - since most site moderators at this point are completely inactive, the [x] feature has been more of a hassle than not, occasionally causing entirely legitimate rows to disappear. It is now only available for logged-in users. However, the threshold at which a row is hidden has been lowered a little.

As a general reminder, I'm still very much available through #dataclaw on irc.darkmyst.org, or via email, which is how people've traditionally reached me to ask me to restore rows or do spring cleaning. Please don't hesitate to contact me if something is amiss. This site is old and I don't actively monitor it, but I don't want it to fall into disrepair.

Thanks to those of you who diligently give me a poke whenever things break - I appreciate it! :)

4. 3rd November 2013

Occam e-mailed me so I'd update the database with a few new regular items that've been released in the past three years: The Blood Potion, the Ring of Resistence, the Scroll of Bondage, and the Wooden Stake. Thank you, Occam!

5. 1st November 2010

1. ...I noticed you can order your own edit histories because I never disabled it for that view (it uses the same logic as the main database). I was all the more surprised to see it works out of the box. Huh - imagine that! Well, except for a small bug in ordering by items or powers - so I fixed that.

2. Have had this @todo for about a month, irritatingly, but fix'd: Garlic Spray's blood-needed-to-use threshold is actually at least as low as 150, possibly beneath.

3. I've also finally fixed the annoying numbering bug ('11st', '12nd' and '13rd') on the map.

6. 17th October 2010

1. It's finally happened, the spambots have found the e-mail feature. So I've protected it. Sorry for the inconvenience. :)

2. Heads-up; logaan found a small bug in the edit history. The person who was marked as editing the displayed row was actually the person who edited the one above it. That was a logical glitch on my part when coding it and should now be fixed, both in future and in your past records. Thank you, logaan!

3. Caretakers can now view edit histories.

Please let me know immediately if anything breaks, especially pertaining to point #3 - I think I got a bit dizzy getting that to work right. :)

7. 29th March 2010

Paging in edit histories was broken. Sorry about that. Fixed it!

8. 27th March 2010

Just a small change to the FAQ: Added 'The map doesn't contain shops and guilds! Where can I find info on that?', and expanded the 'Help! I'm a bit lost in the game. Can you help me?' question, both to link to cliffburton's excellent resources.

9. 20th March 2010

1. Added Scrolls of Summoning.

2. Your past edits are now recorded. You can clear your history and remove individual edits as you please. Only the most current will be searchable by others, though, this is a private record only. Thanks goes to logaan for pestering me to do this. :) It was logaan's idea.

Note: Any edits prior to today are, obviously, not recorded. Anything from now, though, will be.

3. I've created a script for the bpdb moderators that'll let them edit map squares. In consequence, added the questions "Something on the map is out of date, who do I contact?", "How can I add an 'RP-only' location to the map?" and "Hey, I removed that lair from the city, why do you still have its description? Take that down immediately." to the FAQ.

4. Old pub names have finally been obsoleted. A huge thank you goes to Foamy, the only other person who helped me visiting all pubs to confirm their names. Same is true for old lair names. (Descriptions have not been fixed yet, that is due on another date; credit then will go to RCPedia and its many contributors.)

5. Remembered I have a document that ranks items/powers/etc by coins, added Scrolls of Summoning to that, too.

6. L'inconnu is now listed as a historic clan on the clans page.

10. 23rd February 2010

By way of accidentally finding out with Siroccostorm (who has never in his entire young life as a vampire been attacked), I've come to verify, rather on accident, that Stamina quests can be bought back from necromancers without any additional trickery.

On the way to his Stamina(3) checkpoint, ironically:

"A necromancer in the back of the shop senses you are weakened. He offers to return your strength by up to 992 pints at a cost of 25 coins per pint."

On the way back (not that this part says much, unfortunately):

"A necromancer in the back of the shop senses you are weakened. He offers to return your strength by up to 2492 pints at a cost of 25 coins per pint."

11. 10th February 2010

Whoops. Finally caught on that email links from search were pointing to the wrong place! Fixed that.

12. 24th October 2009

Fixed a bunch of other prices (also by just 1 coin). Again, thanks goes to Silhouette, who patiently gathered the data for me. Thank you!

Also fixed a few small wording issues in the FAQ - and finally remembered it contains 'There used to be a guide for powers here, what happened to it?'. Linked that to the encyclopaedia, instead of keeping the silly "It'll return" blob up any longer.

13. 11th October 2009

Fixed the prices on the Sprint Potion. Thanks to Silhouette for pointing it out (and listing the proper ones)!

14. 22nd August 2009

1. Shops and a document on coins have been added to the encyclopaedia. While I was at it, I fixed a dumb reference to the old power recommendation list within the power recommendation list. D'oh. Also, historic mention of Garlic Spray's once-unavailability in magic shops.

2. Most miscellaneous documents are now available in the encyclopaedia. I finally feel okay revealing how much I still have to move/write: A document on action points (new) and everything on buildings. When I'm done with those I'll probably add in a few more links into the other documents.

15. 10th August 2009

Some silent changes I made yesterday ended up in a perplexing bug. If you were unable to sign up since, please try again!

16. 5th August 2009

1. The item encyclopaedia is fully up on the site, same with the guilds. As a marker: I'm about halfway through transferring the documents now. A thank you goes out to the people in #dataclaw for their efforts answering my stray questions today, especially persephone.

2. Added FAQ: 'Help! I'm a bit lost in the game. Can you help me?'

17. 29th July 2009

1. Added FAQs:
a. 'How can I be staff here? I'd love to help.'
b. 'I'm scared people might mark my clan as inactive out of spite. What can I do?'

2. Expanded FAQs:
a. 'My stats have changed since I last edited my details! What happened?'
b. 'The stats of this one vampire are preposterous! They don't match to their actual Second-Sight at all. What can I do about it?'
c. 'How do I know what exactly it's sorting by?'

18. 28th July 2009

Fixed a JavaScript error in the account editing page. Relevant to those of you who use FireFox or Chrome.

It was fairly obscure, which is why it took me so long to fix. If you're a JavaScripter, take this advice: Nice as it is to use only DOM functions, setAttribute('value',stuff) seems to be buggy in both FireFox and Chrome (especially maddening in latter since the DOM object inspector will pretend it worked). Don't rely on it. (Addendum: D'aww look at da widdle bug, so cyoot! Except it may not be a bug, but, flabberghastingly, intended behaviour. I'm still investigating that bit.)

While I was at it, also made the clans in your clans section appear ordered by name. Overdue.

19. 27th July 2009

1. A few more convenience changes, and a new FAQ entry 'My stats have changed since I last edited my details! What happened?' pertaining to the moderators' ability to change rows.

2. Historic clans now have their own section. Glee.

20. 26th July 2009

1. Made it easier for the mods to deal with clan inactivity report abuse - after watching nonsense reports tally up in the raw database with idle amusement at their ineffectiveness.

2. Some convenience changes for the other moderator tools. <3

21. 14th July 2009

Remembered that native MySQL string sorting is case-sensitive, effectively splitting up sorting into two blocks: A-Z, a-z. Beat it into submission so it behaves more naturally.

22. 13th July 2009

1. I dimmed the brightness of the old rows a bit, they were a bit pushy for attention.

2. Fixed a small error in the search that let hidden rows be part of search results in some constellations.

#. Unfortunately, I also realised that I won't be able to do the rest of the encyclopaedia until the end of this week. Sorry, folks. Since I'm sure there are less newcomers to the game these days, though, it's probably not as important as it once was. Still, I want you all to know it's high priority for me.

23. 10th July 2009

1. I'd like to express my gratitude to Eternal Bug for putting up with my onslaught of detail questions today.

BattleCloak prices are finally up. I also fixed a booboo in the BattleCloak description (said 'human' where I meant 'vampire'). Sorry, that was silly of me.

I'm still in the middle of making the item files, however, since I'll be gone over the weekend, I've put those I have up for now. Please forgive any incompleteness.

2. Ack. Just noticed I'd not put up Perception's page. Fix'd.

3. Also, some minor changes in some encyclopaedia files, usually polishing a sentence or two for flow / sense. No content change, though, excepting that I noticed I forgot to add in the colour notice to the BattleCloak page. Also fix'd.

24. 9th July 2009

1. Added the encyclopaedia. For now, it only contains powers - items and other information will follow soon.

I'd like to thank the Splinters of Dusk for allowing me to release their documents to the public. While the guide was originally written by myself, it's been an invaluable, in-depth resource for the clan for years, and while it may well be that the tactical advantage is no longer given, I still appreciate the openness. I am trying to repay them by expanding on the documents as things pop to mind.

2. Shadows, Celerity and Telepathy expanded from base documents.

25. 8th July 2009

1. The FAQ's anchors have been changed to be a bit more persistent.

Gory details: Essentially, the numbering was prone to changing, since it depended on the order the questions were in the underlying text file, so if you linked to question 8 in the past, there was nothing guaranteeing that it would remain question 8 when your link was clicked. Now, a hash over the question name defines the anchor, which, while prone to potential conflict, is not going to change for the questions (as long as the question itself is not changed).

2. BattleCloak and Neutrality colours. Someone kindly reminded me that the old database marked rows according to those powers, sensibly so. It's not vampire names that are highlighted here, but the ongoing number and the powers themselves, which should have the same informational value, without looking downright butt ugly. Also, an entry in the FAQ about this.

3. FAQ additions:
a. 'How do I add a clan?'
b. 'What does it mean if a clan I typed comes up as "none found"?'

4. Clan details now support links (for now, just one per attribute value; and must be on the first line of the same).

5. Mirrored pagination at the top of the table, too.
